More than a third of people with back and joint pain take to their beds. But it may be the worst thing you can do.
Bed rest can delay you getting treatment,reduce mobility and prolong recovery time, say experts.
Younger people are far more likely to suffer neck and shoulder pain,
with many hunched over a computer screen for more than six hours a day,
and 99 percent ofover-50s suffered back pain.
More women than men suffer pain, with onein three complaining of creaky knees compared to one in five men.
But research shows that physiotherapy and exercise programmes are far better than bed rest for tackling the problem.
